Emergency Management

The Mercer County Emergency Management Agency is the primary emergency planning agency for Mercer County. This office is responsible for developing the county emergency operations plan that is used during any emergency or disaster. The Mercer County Emergency Management Agency also works with the local police and fire departments to obtain grant money to purchase response equipment for those agencies.

The Mercer County Emergency Management Agency is also involved with the Mercer County Emergency Planning Committee and the Mercer County Citizens Corps, both of which are citizen-involved organizations.

The Mercer County Emergency Planning Committee meets twice a year to discuss emergency needs in the community and to review hazardous material information submitted by local businesses. The Mercer County Citizens Corps meets quarterly and receives information on local, state, and national plans for emergency responses.
