Coroner
No one looks forward to doing business with the coroner, but the coroner does have important duties beyond determining the cause of death. The Coroner and the Coroners Deputies have full power and authority of peace officers, including the power of arrest, to bear arms, and administer oaths.
When the coroner performs an investigation they may enter a public or private property, seize evidence, interrogate persons, and require the production of medical records, documents, or evidence. The coroner may impound vehicles involved in fatal accidents and he/she may employ special investigators such as a photographer and expend funds in carrying out his/her duties.
