Planning & Zoning
The Mercer County Joint Planning and Zoning Commission was created on behalf of the citizens for the purpose of assisting in the planned growth of the county. In addition, land use controls were implemented for the purpose of protecting public health, safety, comfort, and general welfare.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PROPOSED I-T ZONING ORDINANCE:
The City of Harrodsburg will conduct a first reading of the proposed ordinance regarding the I-T zone related to data centers at its regular scheduled meeting on September 28th, 2026.
The Fiscal Court conducted the first reading of the proposed zoning ordinance regarding the I-T zone related to data centers at its regularly scheduled meeting on September 8, 2026.
Please note: This was the first reading, and no official action could be taken at this meeting.
The Fiscal Court is required to follow the procedures outlined in KRS 100.211 and Mercer County Zoning Ordinance 2026-01.
Following the first reading, the Fiscal Court scheduled a special meeting for September 28, 2026, to hold the second reading. This meeting will be held at the Campbellsville University Harrodsburg Gymnasium (772 University Drive).
Testimony and comments received during the three Planning & Zoning public meetings have been provided to the Fiscal Court for consideration.”

Commissioners
The Planning & Zoning Commission was created in 1972 by the governing laws of KRS Chapter 100. This body consists of 7 appointed commissioners. Appointments to the Joint Commission are as follows: 4 members are appointed by the Fiscal Court and 3 members are appointed by the Mayor of Harrodsburg. They serve 4-year terms of office and are so appointed on a staggered basis. The currently appointed commissioners are shown below

Meeting Schedule
Currently, the commission meets on the first Thursday of each month at 5:00pm. Meetings are held in the City Commissioner’s meeting room on the second floor of City Hall. The Commission reserves the right to cancel meetings or adjust meeting dates as necessary.
