Clinical Services

Services are provided by appointment. Most services are provided on a sliding scale fee.

Chronic Disease Screening

Blood Pressure checks are available, as well as blood tests for cholesterol and blood glucose. Nutrition counseling for hypertension, diabetes, and elevated blood lipids are available. Lead and Tuberculosis screening are also available.

Women, Infants, Children

The WIC program provides supplemental foods and nutrition education to pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women as well as infants and children under age 5, based on federally established income guidelines.

Tuberculosis Services

Services available include screening, treatment and follow-up for those at risk of acquiring active disease and for those with active disease to assure a cure.

Family Planning

Available to all on a sliding fee basis.  Includes medical history, physical exam including pap smear, and supplies, counseling/information on available birth control methods. By appointment only.

Pregnancy-related Services

Urine testing for pregnancy, as well as prenatal care through a contract with an OB/GYN practice for income and Medicaid eligible women living in Mercer County.

Well Child/EPSDT Exams

Provides preventive health care to qualifying children birth to age 21. Services include health and developmental assessments, immunizations, school physicals, and referrals for diagnosis and treatment. Sports physicals are not available.

Sexually Transmitted Disease Services

Includes testing, treatment, counseling, prevention, and referral services.  Mercer County Health Department does participate in the Brown Bag Program during operational hours by providing free brown bags of condoms. The brown bags are located inside the clinic door to the left, and may be taken on an anonymous basis.

Cancer Screening

Available to women not enrolled in prenatal or family planning programs. Provides pap smears, breast and pelvic exam, and cancer prevention counseling. Referrals are made for mammograms if client is eligible, or to OB/GYN practice under contract if pap smear is abnormal.

Nutrition Counseling

Available for clients with diabetes, weight issues, elevated blood lipids, and hypertension. Available on a sliding fee basis; diabetes counseling may be covered for clients who are eligible for Medicare.

Immunizations

Available under the Vaccines for Children program to eligible children under the age of 18. Flu shots available in season. Pneumonia shots are available year-round.
